Anton Pijpers appointed Vice-Chair of Utrecht University Executive Board
The Utrecht University Supervisory Board has appointed Prof. Dr Anton Pijpers Vice-Chair of the Utrecht University Executive Board as of 1 April 2014. Anton Pijpers is currently Dean of the university's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Pijpers will be succeeding Hans Amman, who transferred to the University of Amsterdam as of 1 February.
Prof. Dr Emmo Meijer, Chair of the Supervisory Board, is delighted about the arrival of Anton Pijpers: “With the appointment of Anton Pijpers, Utrecht University is gaining a highly experienced director on the Executive Board, who will contribute to the continued expansion of the university based on the strategic plan”. Pijpers is being appointed for a term of four years, with the possibility of reappointment. The Executive Board also includes the President, Marjan Oudeman, LLM, and the Rector Magnificus, Prof. Dr Bert van der Zwaan.
Since 2009 Anton Pijpers (b. 1958) has been Dean of Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Professor of Animal Health Monitoring. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2009, Mr Pijpers was Chairman of the Board of the Gezondheidsdienst voor Dieren [Animal Health Service]. After earning his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Utrecht University, Anton Pijpers went on to work as a practising veterinarian and as a researcher, associate professor and professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He also holds several additional positions, including member of the management team of Topsector Life Sciences & Health, member of the Supervisory Board of University Utrecht Holdings, member of the Board of the Animal Drug Authority Foundation and member of the Executive Board of the European Association of Establishments of Veterinary Education.
