Professor Annetje Ottow LLM appointed new Dean of Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance
The Executive Board has appointed Professor Annetje Ottow LLM Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. As from 1 September 2014, she will be succeeding Professor Henk Kummeling. Ottow is currently Professor of Public Economic Law at our faculty.
In 1988, Professor Annetje Ottow (1965) obtained the (cum laude) Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from Leiden University, which in 1990 was followed by a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from Queen Mary College, London. From 1990 till 2006, Ottow was employed as a lawyer. In June 2006, she obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Amsterdam.
Ottow is a specialist in the field of market regulation and regulators, competition and European law and in 2007 was appointed Professor in Utrecht. In her research and teaching activities, Ottow manages to unite her academic expertise and her practical experience. Ottow holds various additional functions including her membership of the Supervisory Board of VU University Amsterdam and VU University Medical Center. In addition, she is non-executive director of the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and since December 2013 has been member of the Supervisory Board of the Juridisch Loket (Legal Aid and Advice). Ottow is also non-governmental advisor at ICN, the international network of competition authorities.
